SECTION 01 / SCOPE

What is covered and what is not.

A clear scope is the difference between a warranty that helps you and a warranty that creates arguments. Everything covered and everything excluded is listed below.

01

Covered

Twelve years from project close, we will repair or replace — at our cost, with no charge to you — any of the following conditions that we caused through our workmanship.

  • Fastening failures. Panels, trim, or soffit that loosen, sag, or detach because of incorrect nails, screws, or hangers.
  • Flashing failures. Water intrusion at window head flashing, sill pan, kick-out flashing, or any transition detail that we installed.
  • Sealant failures. Caulk lines that separate, crack, or fail to seal within their service life at any seam or penetration we closed.
  • Trim detachment. Corner boards, fascia wrap, soffit panels, or opening trim that separates from the substrate.
  • Installation-related water damage. Water intrusion into the wall assembly that is directly attributable to a workmanship defect we introduced.
  • Wrong or missing components. Missing drip caps, starter strips, WRB laps, or other required components that were part of the contracted scope.
02

Not covered

The following are not covered by the workmanship warranty. Where a manufacturer's material warranty applies instead, we help you file the claim and are present for the manufacturer's inspection.

  • Acts of God and severe weather. Hail, wind, tornado, flood, fire, earthquake, falling trees, and similar events. These are typically covered by your homeowner's insurance.
  • Manufacturer material defects. Chalking, excessive fading, delamination, or cracking of the cladding itself. These are covered by the manufacturer's material warranty — typically 30 years for fiber cement, limited lifetime for vinyl.
  • Subsequent work by other trades. Damage caused by a different contractor, a remodel, an electrical or plumbing penetration, or a satellite installer.
  • Damage from misuse or neglect. Pressure-washing at excessive pressure, contact with chemicals, or damage from ladders, grills, or mounted equipment.
  • Conditions disclosed at project close. Any condition we documented in writing at the final walkthrough that you elected not to repair.
  • Pre-existing conditions in unopened areas. Hidden damage behind cladding we did not remove, or in areas of the building we were not contracted to work on.
  • Cosmetic changes from exposure. Fading, chalking, mold or mildew growth, and normal surface weathering.
SECTION 02 / WARRANTY BY PERIOD

What happens in each year.

The warranty is uniform across all twelve years, but different conditions tend to surface in different periods. Below is what we typically see and how we handle each stage.

01 Year one

Settling & adjustment

Panels and trim reach final position. Any panels that have moved out of alignment, or any caulk lines that have opened up, are corrected at no charge. Most of our warranty calls happen in this window.

02–03 Years two through three

Flashing & sealing

Any water intrusion at a window, door, or roof-to-wall intersection typically surfaces in this window if the flashing was not installed correctly. If it does, we open the wall, correct the flashing, and repair any resulting damage.

04–07 Years four through seven

Fastener & trim integrity

Fastener corrosion, trim separation, and fascia issues surface here if the wrong fasteners or trim materials were used. We replace the affected components with the correct material and re-seal.

08–12 Years eight through twelve

Long-term stability

Any covered issue arising in this period is handled the same way as in the earlier periods. By this point, if the installation was done correctly, most failures are attributable to materials — which fall under manufacturer warranty, not ours.

SECTION 03 / HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM

Four steps. No forms.

We do not use a claims portal, a web form, or a third-party administrator. You call the office, and a person handles it from there.

01

Call the office

Call (704) 543-2871 and describe what you are seeing. Photos by email are helpful but not required. You do not need to find your original paperwork — we have it in the project file.

Same day
02

Service visit scheduled

A service crew supervisor visits the property at a time that works for you, typically within five business days. He inspects the condition, opens the wall if needed, and photographs the area.

≤5 business days
03

Determination

We determine in writing whether the condition is covered by the workmanship warranty, covered by a manufacturer warranty, or outside both. If outside, we tell you the actual cause and recommend the right fix — even if it is not work for us.

Same visit
04

Repair scheduled

Covered conditions are scheduled and repaired at our cost. We use the same materials and details as the original installation. If a manufacturer claim is involved, we help file it and are present for the manufacturer inspection.

Typically 2–3 weeks
HAVE A WARRANTY CONCERN?

Call the office first.

Every warranty claim starts with a phone call. Not a web form, not an email, not a chat window. A person answers during business hours and takes the details down on paper.

If the office manager does not answer, she is on the other line. Leave a message and she will call back within the hour during business hours.

SECTION 04 / FAQ

Warranty questions.

Q-01What exactly does "workmanship" mean in this warranty?

Workmanship means the way the material was installed — fastening pattern, nailing depth, flashing sequence, WRB laps, sealing at every seam and penetration, and trim detailing. It does not cover the material itself, which carries its own manufacturer warranty. If a nail backs out of a panel, that is a workmanship issue we cover. If a panel fades more than the manufacturer spec allows, that is a manufacturer issue.

Q-02Is the warranty really transferable if I sell the house?

Yes. The 12-year workmanship warranty transfers to the new owner one time at no cost if the property is sold during the warranty period. The new owner or their real estate agent calls the office with the closing date and the new owner's name, and we issue a transfer form in writing. Manufacturer warranties on the cladding are already registered to the property rather than to the original owner, so they transfer automatically.

Q-03What happens if a storm damages the siding after installation?

Storm damage is not covered by our workmanship warranty — it is an act of nature. It is typically covered by your homeowner's insurance, and we will help you document the damage for a claim. If a portion of the installation remains intact but a portion was storm-damaged, we repair the damaged section and match the new material to the original as closely as possible.

Q-04What if I hire another contractor and then have a warranty issue?

If the work by the other contractor affects or touches the area of our warranty, the warranty for that specific area is void. If the issue is in an area the other contractor did not touch, the warranty remains in force. We will inspect and determine coverage during the service visit and explain the finding in writing.

Q-05How long does a warranty repair take to schedule?

Covered repairs are typically scheduled within two to three weeks of the service visit, depending on the scope. Emergency water intrusion conditions — active leaks after a storm, for example — are triaged and scheduled within 48 hours for containment, with the full repair scheduled in the normal queue.

Q-06What if I lost the original warranty document?

You do not need it. Every warranty we issue is matched to a project file in our system. When you call the office, we look up the property address and pull the original file, which includes the warranty document, the installation photographs, the signed proposal, and the material documentation. We will issue a replacement warranty document on request at no cost.

Q-07Does the warranty cover commercial and multifamily projects?

Yes. Commercial and multifamily projects carry the same 12-year workmanship warranty on installation labor. On larger projects, the specific warranty terms are stated in the signed construction contract and may include additional provisions — maintenance obligations, access requirements for warranty inspections, or notice periods — but the 12-year term is standard.
